INTERNATIONAL BUYERS • TWO SHIPMENT ROUTES

Buy green coffee through the UAE for your destination

For roasters and commercial buyers in the GCC, Africa, Central Asia and Europe, buying through a UAE trading partner does not mean every container must pass through the UAE. MRGT helps structure a green coffee enquiry around the required lot, destination and shipment route.

The minimum order is one 20ft container. Choose between a UAE re-export enquiry, subject to confirmed local availability and shipment feasibility, and a direct shipment from origin to the agreed customer destination. Neither route is confirmed until the lot and delivery terms are agreed.

Choose the route before booking the shipment

UAE re-export: where a suitable lot is confirmed in the UAE, assess its specification, release conditions, onward route and the documentation required by the destination. Do not assume that local stock is available or that one document set suits every market.

Direct origin to destination: reserve the agreed coffee and plan loading at origin for shipment directly to the customer's named destination. Confirm the origin, shipment window, transport arrangements and document responsibilities before booking.

Compare the two options against the actual lot and your receiving programme. The right route depends on availability, document readiness and the agreed delivery terms; a UAE enquiry does not itself determine the coffee's origin or shipping point.

Build the document checklist around the destination

Confirm the destination's import and plant-health requirements with the importer and the relevant authorities before shipment. The checklist must reflect the actual coffee, origin and route, including whether the movement is an export or re-export.

  • Certificate of origin (COO): agree the required origin evidence, issuing route and any destination-specific format or authentication.
  • Phytosanitary certificate: confirm whether it is required and which export or re-export certification requirements apply to the shipment.
  • Bill of lading (BL), or the agreed transport document: check consignee details, ports, cargo description, release method and any agreed document instructions.
  • Commercial invoice and packing list: align the lot reference, quantity, bag count and shipment details across the document set.
  • Any destination-specific permits, declarations or inspection evidence: identify the responsible party and timing before loading.

Make the delivery responsibilities explicit

Record the agreed Incoterms® rule, version and named place or port in the contract. The selected rule should fit the transport plan and make the allocation of costs, risk and responsibilities clear.

Agree who arranges each transport leg, insurance where applicable, export and import formalities, destination handling and onward delivery. Set payment, quality acceptance and claims procedures separately in the contract; do not leave them to an abbreviated shipping term.

Plan around your destination market

Start with the country and receiving port, then identify the importer and the operational requirements at destination. Buyers in Africa, Central Asia and Europe should share the proposed route so feasibility and the document checklist can be reviewed before an order is confirmed.

From enquiry to an agreed shipment plan

  1. Define the coffee and destination

Send the species, origin, process, grade, intended use, quantity of at least one 20ft container, destination port and target timing.

  2. Compare the available route

Ask the team to check confirmed UAE availability and a direct-origin alternative against the requested lot and receiving schedule.

  3. Agree the lot and acceptance basis

Record lot identification, packaging, sample approval and inspection requirements before confirming the order.

  4. Confirm documents and responsibilities

Agree the applicable document set, importer details, Incoterms® rule and named place, transport responsibilities and booking instructions.

  5. Review the shipment record

Check the approved document details against the agreed order and loading information, and coordinate the destination handover.

Questions about buying green coffee through the UAE

Does the coffee have to travel through the UAE?

No. An agreed order may ship directly from origin to the customer's destination. UAE re-export is another option only when a suitable local lot and onward shipment are confirmed.

What is the minimum order for an international enquiry?

The minimum order is one 20ft container. Final weight, packaging, bag count and loading arrangements are confirmed for the selected lot and route.

Which documents should we confirm before shipment?

Confirm the certificate of origin, phytosanitary certification where required, bill of lading or agreed transport document, commercial invoice and packing list. The importer must also identify any destination-specific permits, declarations or inspection requirements before loading.

How are Incoterms® used in the order?

The contract should identify the agreed Incoterms® rule and version together with a named place or port. Confirm the allocation of transport, insurance where applicable, clearance and delivery responsibilities, and record payment and quality conditions separately.

Can buyers outside the GCC send an enquiry?

Yes. Commercial buyers in Africa, Central Asia, Europe and other destinations can share their coffee specification, receiving port and shipment window. Availability, route feasibility and destination requirements must be confirmed for the order.

Tell us where the coffee needs to go

Send one clear enquiry with the lot requirements and destination. We can then check the suitable route and document needs.
